Reflective practice

Discussions today have helped to focus areas of development within the classroom.
This blog will provide me with reminders about what has been discussed, worked out for future teaching and/or planned.

Area 1: Writing - continue with t modelling and include a shared story at the beginning of the writing week for a shared experience. Brainstorms need to be photographed as evidence of t practice and filed possibly on this blog as a reflective focus. Writing to be edited, shared with a buddy or small group and a graph made of 'how many ideas?' each day is written by the chn on Fridays. Also allow time during writing for 'buddy' sharing of writing and discussion of what the writer could do next. This to be t modelled to learn strategies and how this can be constructively achieved.
Area 2: Reading - reading to the full stop. Observations have indicated chn are not reading to the full stop in a sentence. T modelling and discussions around asking questions about what the sentence means while guided reading to be a conscious teaching focus for each group.

Area 3: Maths - skip counting in 2, 5 & 10. (continue with Beep and look for other games with the skill and knowledge to be practiced)
                      - making tidy numbers. (use of tens frames, jumping the number line to be taught and practiced with consistency during maths lessons and whenever appropriate at other times.)

Area 4: PE - use the professional development opportunities to focus on boys learning and hauora in and around the classroom/learning environment.
